Post Oil Filter Location

Oh Wise Men of the Board!

Please forgive me ignorance regarding this issue, but is the oil filter on the 5.4 in a place that's not too hard to get too?

Thank you in advance!

Man oh man! Few things on the F-150 have received the scorn and contempt as the oil filter location has! It is a big pain in the rear! Look over your left tire at the engine and you should see it and then you should notice all the components below it that make it damn near impossible to get your hand in there to get to it!

Sorry guys...yes, I have a 4x4 OFP. I'd be checking this out for myself, but the weather here has been hovering around zero. Too cold to get on my carport floor wringling around underneath my monster.

Thanks!

I see from your other thread you have 4x4. Sorry about that, because you are going to dread every oil change. I'm still missing a wrench that got tossed into the woods due to severe aggrevation from my first oil change. Just did my third last week and it was a little better since I started bending my elbow backwards the day before to limber it up.
Also watch out cause the undercoating will rub off on you instead of staying on the frame. Got to hate self-healing undercoating!
Otherwise nice trucks!

PS: Except I did discover the rear pinion seal is leaking with only 10,000 miles.

While the filter isn't in the best place, IMO it's much easier to get to than on my wife's Honda and on my Acura.

Darin, You are my hero and I think that it is safe to say that you and your "mod crew" are the resident experts. I am going to have to get a larger monitor to keep up with your modifications. DW

I just used my Fumoto valve for the first time this weekend, what a joy! It's a little slow to drain but it sure beats swinging a wrench while upside down and having the oil come flying out of there (and inevitably onto my driveway).

Chris S,

My daughters 91 Saturn SC has to be the worst car for changing the oil filter. The car's too low to reach under, too low to drive up on ramps, and you have to be careful not to remove the Automatic Transaxle filter, which looks exactly like an oil filter. When you finally jack up all four corners and risk your life crawling half way under the car, you'll find it in a place that's almost impossible to reach. I'll take the F-150 filter anyday.

Please don't hammer me for asking this but....

What happen to the remote filter???

I had one on my 97 and 99 but one day as I was walking toward the truck, threr it was in all it's glory, sticking out of the side of the engine in the drivers wheel well.

When and why was this changed??

Thanks in advance---Bob

Rhino Step Bar (coming), Ford Bug Shield,Even the hitch propeller, More to come... My 99 Expy was destroyed in a Wisconsin Tornado (No B.S.) Allstate did good by me but I still took a hit on mileage.
