Finally driving my 3v swap....

I've had the truck together for a few weeks, but it took a long time to get my tune for the new injectors, then took another week to get a tweaked tune after sending datalogs. I also had to chase down an issue with the cam position sensor, had a bad solder joint on a wire and it wouldn't rev over about ~3500 rpm until I found and fixed the problem. Seems to really rev hard and pulls pretty good. I've got to run out the rest of a year old tank of gas before I really see how it runs. Also need to fix a couple exhaust leaks. Combo update...

2001 Roush Supercrew w/ 5.4 3v swap
new shortblock from Ford
heads ported by Champion Racing Heads
IMRC removed
VCT locked out
'03 Cobra maf
75mm throttle body
custom inlet elbow
OBX longtubes w/ Magnaflow cats
Magnaflow single 3"

The first time I had it installed a couple things like the radiator hose were kind of cobbled up. With the new F250 timing cover everything fits just like the factory did it.

To those who wanted results a year ago.....sorry!

I have noticed that every 3V swap I have read about, that they are all doing away with the VCT. What is the reason for that?

I'm running the stock 2v computer, which has no provision for controlling the VCT. The other reason would be if you are doing an aggressive build the VCT can't handle large cams. You have to either use limiters that reduce the amount of movement possible, or just eliminate it. The lockouts put it in the base fully advanced position where the 3v computer has it at WOT anyway.

Sorry...no. I'm actually starting to get it all cleaned up to go up for sale soon if all is well. I've been thinking about getting something new for months and already sold a car I had also, kinda moved on mentally to something different while it was down. I've had this truck for 5 years, thats about as long as I've ever been able to keep from buying something else...

The inside needs to be run through since it sat for a year, but that won't take long...
