If you put them big tires on there, you might as well kiss your current mileage good buy.
Even with the proper gearing your MPG will suffer 95% of the time.

I agree, but the two just don't really go hand in hand. Sure you can get a turbocharged v6 and have great acceleration and much better fuel economy than a v8 but were talking about things such as bolt-ons, exhaust, forced induction, etc. on our current engine to increase one or the other...increased power generally means decreased fuel mileage because more fuel is needed to support the added power.

the flowmaster is going to hurt you. my buddy had an expy with a super 44 and i traded him my dynomax ultra flow for a few days and he could feel the power diff. didnt have it long enogh to see any mileage diff be he said there was deff more power and better sound.

E-fan do it first. i think this was the biggest and cheapest gain for power and getting the truck warm faster.

i got a 30 dollar lincon mark 8 fan from my junkyard wired up a simple switch the whole thing prob didnt even cost me 40 bucks. and there have been claims *CLAIMS* of 10-20 rear wheel horse power. not to mention its easyer to turn and your AC is colder.

after Efan i would do Longtubes and an exhuast *while replacing the Front o2's* my headers were 289 dollars a few chunks of pipe and 2 dynomax ultra flows ran me another 130 bucks so around 400-500 for exhuast*

Then i would get a CAI a cheaper one i bought a K&N 77 for 250 bucks. then relized you could have got a specter built it ur self from autzone for 30 lol.

Then to bring it all togther i recommend a tuner. i went half n half with a buddy on a Speical forces Delta force SNIPER you can tune any 96-03 ford gas motor out of the box. its very simple drop boxs and i can have a tune wrote and in my truck in about 5 mins. you can write as many custom tunes as you want. take away speed limiter change shift points change shift firmness *My truck barks into 2nd gear now* and also it tells the computer what to do with all your mods! it is 400 dollars for this programer. go in with a buddy and its only 200 for your own custom tuning program NO WAIT TIME and no canned tuning b/s make your own custom tune.

when i got my truck i was getting 10MPG with my 97 4.6 after i did all this and some regular maint i got an all time high of 22MPG i normaly stay right around 18-20MPG and it has ALOT more power.

i drove a stock 4.6 the other day and laghed at it

Hope this helps if you have any questions let me know

Just spend 10bucks and do the gotts intake mod you can feel an increase don't buy a k&n drop in. Paper filter is just as good. If you really want a drop in then I'll sell ya mine for $25. Has about 5k miles on it. But I believe I have 2 cans of the recharger spray I'll throw It looks brandnew still.

Why spend the money on an open filter system, when the gotts mod will flow the same. Keep the stock system, do the gotts mod, drop in a better filter and call it good. Plus you still get all that yummy real cold air from the stock setup. To each his own though.

The recharger oil supplements Armor-all if your looking for another use. That's what I did anyway and it works. Hell, I even used it on a pair Red Wing boots.

This is the system I ended up with, - after many years of trial and errror -

A short 3" intake tube (NO angles/ same circumference thoroughfare) into the factory airbox containing the Amsoil nano fiber filter. System also includes the Gotts Mod.

Pretty simple actually, - not pretty, but it it performs and breaths clean without constant maintenance.

so im not the only one with a filthy engine? thats releiving

any way, im surprised to see them put up with such a beating! My friends yota had an open air filter it sucked in a water 2 weeks ago and now the trucks a bump on a log rip to the yota it had been to hell and back

I need to do some more research on the gotts mod I looked when I first got the truck and didnt understand but ill recheck that out.

As far as the electric fan I think Ill look for a bigger one, read a few things on line and people seem to be impressed by what it can do for you, does a switch need to be installed? isnt there already wiring for a stock fan?

thanks for all the help everyone
