5.4 build questions

im looking at a 97 f150 with a blown motor for cheap. i have a 5.4 block that needs to be honed and then its in good shape. i was wondering if it would be better to buy a set of pi heads and intake, or buy cams for the regular heads.

also i was hopeing while its out to also get a lightning blower somewhere. it would get long tubes, efan, intake, and a tune i tow,a wheel alot. i was planning on 35s and a 4.56 gear

does anyone know if you can put a lightning intake on a PI 5.4?? or are the ports diff?

PI heads with cams will make more power over the old school heads and cams.

i think you can only have a lightning intake on the old school motors thoe. so cams and a blower but no PI heads or PI heads and cams but no blower....i think?

im pretty sure you have to have PI heads for a lighting intake. im in the middle of getting parts for a L swap and its going to cost you atleast 2G's just in parts. and that is getting good deals too.

and yes the PI heads are needed for a lightning eaton install, unless you use the PI to NPI adapters that HPS offers

yeah my buddy was wondering if you gain more power or the same with cams and NPI or cams and PI. so hes going to look for a lightning upper he has a PI 5.4 so his stn cab F-150 might be getting a lightning swap...will be a big improvement over the 4.6

Also we have the Sniper delta force tuner. with that can we tune for the 5.4 or should we just use a 5.4 computer? the sniper has a drop box for engine size and also what kind of intake N/A Blower or turbo.

i rember reading that using a 4.6 computer on a 5.4 works but its better to write a tune for it. i can write a tune in under 5 mins and have it in the truck. would that work or do we need the 5.4 computer?

Thanks for all the imput guys!

I could be wrong... But im pretty sure the none PI and PI 5.4 intakes bolt up the same...

because i swear some people who swaped to PI heads wanted to keep there NONE pi intakes because there metal not plastic

and the lightning intake is a supercharger... im not sure if your saying you want the superchager or the intake... intake cant be used without the supercharger unless you fab stuff....

and the Pi / None Pi / Lightning.... dont they all use the same cams ? or at least the Pi and the lightning do

all the PI 2 valve V-8's use the same cam stock, the '99 5.4's had PI intakes that were metal, they also hold in more heat...
