Engine locked up
ok did a headgasket on the 4.6L engine replaced Timing set and did the valve job. cleaned out the lower end of the engine of water and let it run for about 30 min and drained the oil and refilled with a filter change also. engine was running nice and smooth. next day drove to work checked the Oil again at lunch and it was clean NO WATER in the oil. Then drove from work to McDonalds about 2 miles then from McDonalds to the Highway about 2.5 miles engine locked up while doing 60MPH on the highway. pulled over and popped hood and popped the radiator cap and watched the water just flow right out of the bottle and into the engine. pulled the dipstick and the lvl is about to the bottom of the heads and pure white. Tried to turn engine over just clicks and lights start to dim but engine will not turn over.
only thing I can think of is the engine block is cracked and locking up the crank.
I am thinking I need a new engine or I need to sell this truck.
let me know if you all have any Idea's Oh and the Truck NEVER OVER HEATED after the head job was done. and Heads were pressure tested and was told they were not ctacked.

Sorry to hear about your engine. I have a 97 ford expedition with a 4.6 liter 2 valve engine with 220,000 miles on it. It is a great running engine. No oil burning, no oil leaks, does not smoke and has a lot of power.
I bought a 5.4 liter 2 valve engine with 127,000 miles on it which came off a 97 ford f 150. the f 150 hit an elk and the elk won.... Anyway, the impact bent the one of the cooling fans. The engine was not affected at all. I took a look at the engine while it was still mounted in the truck and started the engine.
THE ENGINE RAN STRONG WITH NO MIS-FIRES OR HESITATION. THERE WAS NO ENGINE LIGHT ON WHEN THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING. I ALSO, DID A COMPRESSION CHECK ON EACH CYLINDER. THE COMPRESSION FOR ALL EIGHT CYLINDERS WERE BETWEEN 115 PSI TO 119 PSI. THERE ARE NO LEAKS.
Sorry for this long story, but I promise I am almost done.
While shopping for other parts, I found a 5.4 liter 3 valve engine with less than 10 miles that was pulled from a f 150. I could not pass it up, so I bought it. Now I have three perfectly running engines. I am going to put the 5.4 liter 3 valve engine in my expedition.
I am selling the 4.6 liter 2 valve engine and the 5.4 liter 2 valve engine. If you want to purchase one let me know.
Each engine will come with:
THE ENGINE WIRING HARNESS, ENGINE COMPUTER, DRIVE PULLEYS, ALTERNATOR, AC COMPRESSOR, POWER STEERING PUMP, WATER PUMP, INTAKE MANIFOLD, FUEL INJECTION RAIL, 8 FUEL INJECTORS, THROTTLE BODY, AND ENGINE SENSORS. ENGINE WILL FIT IN FORD EXPEDITION, FORD F-150, LINCOLN NAVIGATOR, AND MAY FIT IN MUSTANG AND OTHER VEHICLES.
Let me know if you are interested. Good Luck....

Thanks for the responses. I have found an engine and total with shipping and a 6 mo warranty was 775.00 And after thinking about it I MIGHT be getting my Money back at least some of it. It ran great for 1-2 hours the first night after putting it back together and now it is locked up. one possible problem is the valves were not installed correctly and one of the valves fell into the cylinder. If this happened the place that did the Valve job will be hearing from my lawyer so to speak. heheheh. Please be a dropped valve.
