1999 4.6 #4 miss-fire

The heater hose above #4 was leaking and has since been repaired. The plug well was blown out with compressed air. New wires are on order.New plug was installed and checked after 30 miles and looked pretty clean/ dry. # 4 wire removed and spare plug inserted witnessed good spark. Can the injector be tested while in place or has to be removed? If the new wires don't solve the miss what would be my next best move?
Thank you in advance

I spent two days trying to track down a miss on my 97 4.6.
I tested the injectors by removing the wire from the injector. Now I am only a shade-tree mechanic without a bunch of specialty tools.

I thought the injector was bad when removing the wire had no effect. I replaced the injector and still had the miss. Now the miss is gone, and I am now believing it may be a stuck lifter, or maybe a stuck valve. Its running great at the moment.

Tracking down a miss can be a job sometimes. I wish you luck.

Its probably the wire. Yes you could swap an injector with another cylinder but with the wire in question and all i'd just wait till that was replaced.. The wire could appear to be working but its grounding out causing a miss..
