Looking at buying an 2001 Supercrew F150......

and the guy who is selling it says he has had to replace coil packs 5 or 6 times in the last 7 years. I was wondering if this is common in the 5.4L and if it is something I should be worried about. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Sorry, no, not all of them. He has replaced that many individually.

That's why when one goes you should replace the whole set. A whole set is only about 80 bucks on Ebay.

From what I have been reading on other posts, this problem seems real common. This should not prevent me from buying, correct?

Replacing coils is normal maintenance. Now if he is replacing the same cylinder like cylinder 3 or 4 that could mean he has a bad heater hose above it. Most of us here buy the e-bay coils every 100k or so..
