Yeah... same problem here.

I have the same issue as Combsatl, jerky accleration to begin with. It just got worse on my 1.5 hr commute. It seriously had me worried I had a tranny going out, fuel injector, or something really serious. The plugs were new in march.

Above 50mph, jerky hesitant acceleration. If i down shifted it was fine... for a while. Then even down shifting i could feel it. By the time I got off the interstate it had a rough idle... oddly this was comforting as I knew the problem. Just replace a COP 2.5 weeks ago. With the new baby i didn't want to drop $35 a COP on it... kind of wish i would have now.

So one this is taken care of the damn thing is going to my mechanic for a heater core swap. Read too many posts about how that's a nightmare to try it myself.

i have a similar problem as soon as i go over 65-70kmph it will shift into od and wont shift back down unless i press the accelerator to at least 45% and before it would shift it would jerk and bump angrily and then shift down it seemed as if it wanted to be in od as long as i was over 65kmph now it also has a rough idle and a misfire so i did the plugs and cleaned up the cops dielectric greased em the jerking went away but still missfire and shifts into od way to soon so i ordered the cops threw them in still same issue it just rained a few days ago and the truck ran smooth as glass and when it dried up same issue with the missfire it rained yesterday again same thing smooth as glass i cant figure it out maybe injectors? or fuel filter the truck did sit for 5 months last year when i did the tranny. ive brougt it back to the tranny guy 6 times he seems to point at a missfire as well?

Hey, this thread was from a while back and I'm sure the issue's been fixed, but I had the exact same issue with my 01 Expedition-134k miles, been hesitating at about the same speeds. I DO have 2 misses (4/7) and we're tryin to find the culprit, but the hesitation went away almost entirely a few days ago. I changed the fuel filter. Turns out, my truck was choking out. Not 5 mins after I got the new filter on, driving up the street, I realized it does not shudder and get all vibrate-y like it did. $70 parts/labor/tools and it's better. Of course now I've got the lovely PCV vacuum leak that I'm going to be fixing today hopefully.... ha. Good luck

Yea, back when Global coils were popular. You can do better then Global today, - but they did have a great track record for a time !

Today, the best deal is on the Visteon brand coils. Same FORD specifcations as Motorcraft, but usually much cheaper.

$15 ELM reader from ebay.
$4.99 alOBD ScanGenPro alobdscanner.com
$1.49 alOBD Extension for Mode $06 Ford J1850

The Mode $06 for diagnostics is a MUST for figuring out which cylinder is misfiring intermittently when testing COPs.

as above I have the same issue but getting worse I’ve changed plugs and coils, EGR, cleaned throttle body, changed vacuum lines, O2’s, because as I replaced one code pops up for the next issue so I change that and a diff code pops up now with no change except for worse I’m getting p0755 shift solenoid B

Not a clue. You need to post your vehicle details.

99 expedition 4.6 started with a misfire on cylinder 1 since I was gonna do one I changed all spark plugs and coils then went to a vacuum issue checked vacuum lines seen I needed to change a couple then drove fine for a couple of days then started acting up again same symptoms as the gentleman who started the post got a code pertaining to O2 sensors back flow issue I checked the one that threw the code sure enough the wires were melted so I replaced and adjusted so they will not melt on the back side of the block. Two days later I a EGR code popped up and the sputtering and loss of power was back I checked the EGR and there was barely any vacuum so pulled apart the throttle body to check tho ports, was a little dirty but not bad but worse in the bottom of EGR valve I replaced that. I continued to clean the ports put back together now I’m getting a shift solenoid B (p0755) and I’m curious as to could a bad vacuum system ( a cracked hose or bad transmission modular valve) cause it to throw p0755??

I doubt it.

Causes for this P0755 transmission code may include:
Insufficient fluid level
Dirty or contaminated fluid
Dirty or clogged transmission filter
Defective transmission valve body
Restricted hydraulic passages
Transmission has internal failure
Faulty shift solenoid
Corroded or damaged connector
Faulty or damaged wiring
Faulty PCM

If you have an EGR code it's frequently a bad DPFE or its lines.

In April, 2010, I purchased a used (1999) Expedition with 188k. It ran great until about a month and a half ago when it developed a surge while idle accompanied by severe hesitation/jerking/stuttering/etc on acceleration. This mostly occurs when going between 45 and 55 and by gently press the gas. Once I give it enough to downshift the hesitation goes away, completely. The strangest part of this is that my Expedition doesn't do this when the engine is cold; only when it's warm. When the AC is on the problem is amplified.

I've spent HOURS searching for a solution to my issue. Everyone that seems to have a similar issue has an engine code; my car has NO codes. The SES light works fine but I can't get it to spit a code no matter what I do. From my hours of searching I have: changed the DPFE sensor, changed the EGR valve, replaced hoses leading to and from the EGR/DPFE parts, replaced several other vacuum hoses (that were rotten), replaced the entire PCV system (from ford), replaced the TPS, extensively cleaned the intake, MAF and about every electrical connection I can find - nothing seems to have fixed it. I've gone through every single hose in the engine and can't find any leaks or broken joints. By the way it's behaving I suspect some kind of vacuum leak but I can't find any other leaks.

If anyone has any ideas of things I haven't tried I would definitely be open to giving it a shot.

Thanks all,

Eric
