P0506 Code Poor Idle

I just got the code, the truck was running really terrible, low rpms 400-500, would stall sometimes at a stoplight, had the check engine light.

This all happened after I changed the oil and disconnected the battery, drove around for 1-2 days like this (with the engine light on), I disconnected and reconnected the TPS sensor, reseating the connector, and disconnect the battery again, cleaned the MAF, seemed to idle fine about 750-800, and the light went away, drove to autozone, purchased a OBO reader, and this was the code, should I clean the TB? Or just clear it and see if it comes back?

Could have a vacuum leak. Just had a similar issue with my truck. Discovered the PCV hose elbow on the back of the intake was broken. I have yet to fix it, but I was getting a similar error code. Put a vacuum gauge on it, and at idle, it was about 10PSI when it needs to be between 18-20PSI.

The PCV hose usually causes both P0171 and P0174. P0506 is an idle air control code and the 04+ with electronic throttles don't have an IAC - on those it's indicative of a throttle body/control issue.

P0506 code

I got the P0506 code on my '04 F-150 Supercrew with the 4.6L engine the day after I put in a new battery. How ironic I would read pretty much the same story on the forum here. Hmmmm??? Ironic or is it a problem with newer ford trucks? Makes a person wonder sometimes. But, I'm going to troubleshoot the problem and see what I come up with.

I also got the P0506 code on my '04 F-150 Supercrew yesterday after replacing the battery 4 days prior. And it is idling WAY low and stalling occasionally. I had a similar problem a couple of years ago after the engine was replaced but it seemed to slowly get better over time.
