Engine Noise Diagnosis
Well I have been driving it with no performance issues. This winter we will be tearing some stuff down. We are still not sure of the direct problem.
Now that the noise has progressed here very lately, as I'm driving down the road I get a click. Especially if accelerating or engine is under load such as slowly accelerating or going up a hill. The clicking will change with rpm at all ranges. Not sure how to describe it other than a click. Would this sort of noise hint you guys to look at certain area more than others? I have been told possibly lash adjusters and possible cam phasers.

Are you sure the lastest noise is not pinging, also known as detonation or pre-ignition?
You would expect it to happen under load or accellerating up a hill.
FWIW, in cold temps the motor usually wants more fuel. You might be running a little bit lean, or be using bad fuel with insuffiiceint octane for your tune and conditions.
Try a tank of premium from a reputable station that sells alot of fuel, and see if it goes away.

I had something like that... bad custom tune. Drove me nuts for months. It was like a clicking.... came from my rear brakes (or so I thought). My exhuast is 45'd on each side... It was only happening under a load and I thought my brake calipers were hitting something.
Nah, i'm sure the noise is defiantly tied in with all other problems I been having. I wish I could get some sounds of it, i will take my girlfriends camera tomorrow and see if it has better quality sound record on it.
If your running around 56-58 ish just cruising along you can hear it slowly doing it at times, then if you give it some gas it will slowly do it as the engine is under load trying to push forward but almost acting like its bogging right before it downshifts. Then as it down shifts it will go more rapid with the rpms and slow as the rpm range comes back down as you accelerate forward.
If you could follow that haha.

Heck I will try anything to keep me from having to tear this engine apart. How could I gain knowledge of if a cat was bad/going bad? Also should i set my tune back to stock and run like that for a bit to see if anything happens?

Stock made no difference, sounds just as clear as on lvl 2. I tried recording with a camera, put it picks up to many other sounds to clearly hear the engine noise. I don't know how I could describe it more accurately. It's heard the most when the transmission shifts into overdrive and the rpms come down around 1350, then the noise is fairly clear and sort of slow. As you pick up speed and rpm the noise is still clear but the exhaust starts to over power it and the speed of the click picks up as the rpms do.
It sounds like a disel at idle, its extremely loud. And yes its coming from that same general area it seems. The passenger side is much louder than the right, and the clicking during drive sounds like its coming from the passenger side of the engine. It doesn't click at idle, but it does have a "marble in a can" sound when you get the rpms around 1800, and is a very distinct sound.
If you refer back to my first post you can hear the sound it makes at 1800 rpm sitting still. Noted that noise doesn't happen while driving. The only noise while driving is the clicking.
