I can make a wedge, buy a new phaser bolt and remove the cam and will have access to change all the adjusters and followers at one time. Not sure where to put wedge????
You wedge it in the middle of the chain. You'll feel it lock in place if you use the tool made for it. And yes, the Rotunda or Stallion Products valve spring compressors will both fit but it is tight. The followers part number is 3L3Z-6564-BA and the lash adjusters are 5L1Z-6500-A for an 05 Expedition if that helps. Good luck with your project!

Question 3 valve bStep by step cam swap with photos

came across some very helpful info on the use of the improved valve spring compressor used on 5.4 3v engines with photos. One of the photos is of the locking wedge installed with the front timing cover removed. Go to freedomracing.com at the top click on INSTRUCTIONALS , then down about the middle of the page to 3V CAM SWAP INSTRUCTIONAL PDF. Read through this abundance of helpful info. They only remove three followers on each side to change the cams.

My question is, if I am changing the followers and adjusters on the passenger side only, can I just turn the crankshaft until the cam intake cam lobes are both straight up on each cylinder and (with the Stallion valve compressor) remove and replace all three on that cylinder. OR is there a better sequence to get the job done? Thanks for your replies.
