I run Motorcraft 5-20 in all my vehicles. One has 154,000 miles and no oil burn. This oil is semi synthetic and cheap at Walmart for $2.77 qt. This is a great oil for the price and hard to beat. I do all oil changes at 4,000 miles and keep computer records of each of 4 vehicles.

GLC, You scared me! I went out and looked at my 2002 owner's manual and it confirms that my 5.4 takes 6 qts with filter change. That is what I've been putting in it.

Did they change the fill to 7 qts in the 3 valve engine?

My 05 Dodge Magnum "Hemi" 5.7L does take 7 qts. If I bought a new truck (which I don't plan to do. I love my 02 Ford) I would have to consider a Dodge because of that wonderful "Hemi" engine.

Wait until you see how many qts the new 5.0 holds. I bet a lot of the owners won't be changing every 3000 miles. The 3V holds one more qt than the 2v 5.4.

3v's do take 7 quarts. Ford has new engines in the new trucks right now. the new 5.0 and 6.2 engines may be the cutting edge right now.
