At 210K my '03 150 timing chain tensioner gave up, chain beat plastic rails until they broke and sent shrapnel thru the engine, cam jumped and bent a valve. Other than that engine was perfect, did not smoke, got 17 mpg.

My machinist has a '97 5.4 core he can build a long block for me. I am worried about parts from the 4.6 swapping to 5.4

Will the intake swap?
Will bolt-on items swap over?
Will a sensor detect the wrong engine and make things difficult?
Any mine fields I need to watch for?
What suggestions are there for increasing 5.4 HP if the swap will work?

Thank you.

No, the intake will not swap.
