But it will keep the carb from freezing which will be a problem with ethanol gas.
I have decided to go another way altogether. I came across a 460 with edelbrock intake, valve covers, holley carb, hedman headers, and a c6 transmission. The engine looks like it was built about 40000 miles ago so I am going to freshen it up internally and rebuild the trans to make sure it is still going to hold the hp. the best part is i got it for 300
Now yer talkin'! The best part is that parts for the swap are easy as the 460 was installed in the 97 model trucks. If the one you have is EFI, there is a ton of power still in the engine that Ford didn't release. A tuner and heavier injectors will turn it into an incredible beast. If I were you I'd be looking at buying stock in a tire company like Goodyear, Michelin, etc as tires are not going to last long on the back.
The 1997 instrument cluster uses a signal from a temperature sensor in the coolant crossover on the intake manifold. The oil pressure sender is a switch that sends an on off signal to the cluster that turns on the oil light and drops the pressure gage to 0. The voltage meter is a simple 12v signal from the battery. The speedo uses a pulsed signal from the transmission. The tach uses input from the PCM. The fuel gage goes straight to the cluster. Waht engine did you blow up? 4.2, 4.6 or 5.4?

Cool thread! I'm subscribing. If this actually gets completed, it will be the first 4.2 V6\ Any V8 swap I've seen. Many have questioned it, and in great detail. Never seen anyone do it. Good luck and post some pics!
