P0204 Injector 4 circuit open and P0316 Misfire Detected

Truck started to run like complete **** yesterday. Just had the plugs and coils changed last week and my truck throws these codes. is this related to what the shop did. I notices the COP's were loose (able to wiggle them) is that normal. thanks! id like some knowledge before i take it back so they dont try and screw me.

its normal to be able to move them around, id guess with that code it is #4 which is the rear passenger cylinder. take the connector off and snap it back on, if not you may have a bad coil. if you take the coil out you can check the ohms across the two pins it should be around 1.5 ohms if it is alot higher than that then the coil has an open and is bad

is the coil separate from the COP? The Cap i see on top, does that hold the coil inside it or is it one assembly?

COP is (Coil On Plug), so it is the coil. use an ohm meter on the two pins where the connector hooks into

Is it me or is he getting a p0204 which is a open injector and a p0316 which is misfire detected on start up. Leaky injector? Check the connections on the #4 injector. If they removed the rail to do the plug change, something maybe have happened in that process. Just my guess.

I would still take it back with concerns that the new has derived from the recent work. They will at least diagnose it and either try and avoid it by pushing you out the door or find what it is and fix it.

If that is a leaky injector. I would get it looked at asap. They can cause serious damage pretty quickly. Hydrolocking is not to be taken lightly. You might grab a noid light to test the injector signal. Should see a nice steady pulse but that doesn't always indicate the problem. Or you can test for leaky injectors yourself, there are some "how to's" around here. There are a few other things I can think of, a possible wire that has been rubbed through or burnt through from the injector to the pcm somewhere causing a short. A disconnected wire. Or a possible failing injector lead/driver at the pcm.

Bottom line, that should have nothing to do with the COP.

They said they replaced the coils. The top of the COP's are dirty as hell so i know those arent new. A little more info i didnt mention is when this happened the truck started to lope and studder real bad and some white smoke was coming out of the tail pipe.

Turns out there was a pinched wire on the harness to the injector. must have happened when they were changing the spark plugs.
