Check Engine Light?

I went to my mechanic and he says the code is saying the lower 02 sensor is bad but it's also giving a mass air meter code. Is is possible the 02 sensor is throwing off the mass air meter?

The truck has been running ruff and I've replace all plugs, wires, two coil packs. It is running much better but seems still a little ruff when the check engine light goes on. The light is on i'd say 90% of the time.

Re boot and see if the o2 code goes away. You should replace the front o2's every 100k..

the o2 sensor most likely wouldn't affect the MAF sensor, but the other way around is a definite possibility. try cleaning the MAF as was said and see if there is a difference.

And maybe look for a new mechanic! The rear o2 sensors are for the cat.

The rear O2's do not affect the way it runs even one bit. ALL they do is monitor the cat efficiency for emissions reporting purposes. Clean the MAF and reboot it, if the MAF code comes back replace the MAF.

Just to make sure, please get the exact P-numbers of the codes, not just what your mechanic says is wrong. Autozone will do a free scan for you if the light is on.

Thanks, the Check Engine lights went off on it's own and it hasn't been back on for a few days now. If it comes back on I will get the codes from Autozone. How do you clean/reboot the MAF?

I would scan it first, - since it's free. The CEL doesn't have to be on for DTC in the KeepAliveMemory (KAM). MAF service require reboot. The KAM is erased along with DTC.

It's just good to know what that DTC was for probable update. The CEL on "SOLID" then off is either a burnt bulb (CEL) or it could be a sensor needing service, - hard to say. The Mechanic said "lower" meaning rear IMO, - but referenced the MAF sensor. The two components don't work together...?

Up2You.
