American vs Canadian Built Trucks - Pinging???

Hi

I live in canada and purchased a 2006 FX4 from the states. I have noticed that I get alot of pinging when I run regular gas and it significantly is reduced when I run premium gas. I also noticed that if I run regular gas and add a can of octane booster, it als reduces the pinging. I get most of the pinging when I accelerate or when I take my foot off the gas and then quickly reapply it. I was considering getting a tuner hoping that this would help me and then I started to wonder if the programming on the computer for a US built truch is different than that for a Canadian built truck and if thats the reason for the pinging? If it is I was going to bring it to the dealer and ask them to reflash the truck with the latest program.

Any help would be appreciated

Sounds like spark knock? You can try a reflash, some have fixed it that way. Im not sure what causes it. Theres some good write ups about it on this site tho, search and you will find.

I'd get a BG or Motorvac intake cleaning job. You probably have excessive combustion chamber deposits.
