CHT and ECT

I was having trouble with my temp gauge, it would read all the way to hot after a couple minutes of idleing and the engine would be cool enough to touch so i replaced my ECT but now that i replaced it all it does is stay on cold... Could my CHT have anything to do with this? and if it does need to be replaced where is it located? it is a 1997 f150 with a 2005 5.4l.... And before i changed my ECT it would make my oil pressure act up and it would be all over the place... Thanks for any help...

Sorry to go off topic but I'm curious whether the swap to the newer 3v 5.4L was worth it? As far as swap complications vs the outcome.
