5.4 build

So a few weeks agoni decided to start a new build
for my f150. I purchased a 5.4 block from summit racing and have it on an engine stand in my garage. I know that I want to keep it naturally asperated, and have around 400-450 ft lbs of torque. Horsepower isn't too much of a factor to me only because I understand the basic principle of engine operation. I also would like to use the 2v heads. I live in California so I don't want to risk getting my truck impounded and crushed for illegal engine modification. Any suggestions?

get the trick flow top end kit, and the pashcal stroker kit (the smaller of the 2)

also get yourself some cali legal headers (equal length shorties) run yourself 2.5 inch dual exhaust with an H or an X pipe with the mufflers of your choice, 42# injectors, a larger fuel pump, a 90mm MAF and a solid tune

Is that seriously true? "illegal engine modification" Gayness

California is like the state with some of the biggest classic/hotrod builders and bike builders.

Gotcha.
I was curious when a friend and I were talking about his built 91 stroker stang. He mentioned it was 50 state legal including California. Wasn't quite sure what the parameters of that meant.

I want to see how this turns out. Sure makes me wish I would have kept my old motor seeing all these build threads.

ok so $2900 for the top end kit and $2000 for the stroker kit. I feel like this auto parts business is something i should get into. What about intake manifolds what options do I have there? From what I hear the stock piece flows pretty good. But i was thinking about making a custom intake using he lightning manifold. Just so I can have the dual bore throttle body. Anyone ever done this?

there's always this option if you're willing to do the work to make it run

I always liked the looks of those sheet metal intakes and valve covers.

I was just told that this block I have isn't a "performance block" I obviously know this because I didn't want to throw down the $3000 for the aluminum block. But Ive heard of cast iron blocks surviving up to 1000hp and beyond. I have a feeling that this dude is an idiot and doesn't know what he is talking about. Am I ok with this build with a cast iron piece?
