Fuel/electric problems

Just bought a 1989 F150 4x4 automatic with a 5.0 in it. Test drove fine and drove home just fine. It rained one day (I don't know it that has anything to do with it) but now I can't get it to run. The problem started not so bad but got worse. Sounded like it was going to die at idle, giving it gas wouldn't help keep it alive. Then stopped turning over all together. Replaced fuel filter and put fuel treatment in the tank, got a little better where it will at least turn over but can't get it to stay alive. There's fuel in the bleeder valve but not sure of what the pressure is. Runs with ether for a second. All the fuses are good. Thinking its the fuel pump. Electric? Any advice?

If you have any way of testing fuel pressure while cranking it, that would help.

Water in the fuel some how?

I'd lift off the distributor cap and check the inside for moisture..

Put a tire gauge on the bleeder valve, had low pressure, but I'm also not sure if that's a legitimate way to check. When I depressed the valve gas shot out, but only about an inch squirt. So gas is getting up there, but maybe not enough pressure?

Did that this morning, everything checked out.

you need a fuel pressure gauge. Auto zone lends them. Ask them the specification while your getting it.
