5.4 cam phaser

Ok, so after a search around the board I have come up with my cam phasers is bad. I get a diesal knock at idle after my 04 fx4 warms up. So I went out and fot fresh oil and filter for a oil change(motorcraft filter, valvoline 5w20) and a quart of lucas oil stabilizer.( I have always run lucas in all my trucks and have run them up near the 300,000 mile mark) so i stick with what works. so after driving the truck the knock has got quiter than it was but is still there at idle only when it warm. so thats a little food for thought since i have read that some owners use a thicker oil to quite it down. But my main question is since i am not familar with the 5.4 3v is where are the cam phasers and how big of a pain are they to change?

Noisy cam phasers don't necessarily mean they are bad. All cam phasers make noise to some degree.

Yep, tell tale sound. Mine makes a similar sound but I'm not worried. Hard to compare over the internet. The key to good VCT function is regular oil changes. I am sure it's helping in your situation.
