how hard of an engine swap?
how hard of an engine swap?
i have a 1978 f250 that needs a motor..a buddy of mine's uncle has a late 80's model 7.3 PSD non turbo..we were thinking of how hard this would be to swap in..
he also has a 2002 24v cummins but id figure the PSD would be a little easier if it wasnt TOO hard

If you're hell bent for a diesel, the 7.3 would be the better or easier choice I'd imagine. Less emission crap, no need for intercoolers etc., just all motor. Otherwise, I'd get a 460 for the ol' 78, or a decent small block. I'd just think swapping to diesel would be a lot of work and money.
7.3 non turbos are slow but reliable, a 24v cummins is alot better but would be a tough swap due to the lenght and height.if you go diesel your gonna have to probably go to a straight axle to handle the added weight
as long as you have everything from the donor truck on hand the swap won't be too had at all
also a turbo and i/c on the 7.3 will help it run great (banks offered a sidewinder kit for 'em back in the day and made them perform with the '99-'00 7.3 trucks in stock form)
