2008 and cam phasers.

I have read and listened to every post I can find on cam phasers. I believe that is my problem, a very noticeable knock between idle and about 1600 rpm and it runs slightly rough while this knocking occurs. It then goes away and all seems fine. A friend who is a ford mechamic told me that they fixed the problem on 2008's. Does anybody know if this is true? This truck is new to me, I boughtit used with 33,000 and it is a certified vehicle so I can get it fixed under warranty.

Take it in and have the pros diagnose it if you have a warranty.

Yer friend is wrong. There are about 3 months worth of F-150 production in YM 2008 that have the old design phasers. The COPS color is different but I'm not sure which is the new color. I think if your engine has brown COPS, you have the newer design phasers. OR, just look on the door frame and find the manufacture date. If it's before November 22, 2008, you have the old phasers. But it does sound like that is the issue.

Sweet. Yes, brown cops are the new design, black cops are old design.

I just went and looked and I have the black COPS and the truck was built 10/07. So I guess I have the Cam Phaser issue. Any advice on how to get the dealer to fix the issue?

Yer dealer should be looking in Fords database to see exactly what came on yer truck. YM actually means nothing to Ford, the VIN is everything.

Did you mean November 22, 2007? it seems to me that any production date as late as 11/22/08 would be MY 2009...
