Exclamation KD Tools Spark Plug Rethread Kits

Has anybody had any luck/experience with the KD Tools Spark Plug Thread Repair Kit for the Triton Engine?

My #5 spark plug blew out and I'm trying to do an "over the fender" repair.

Thanks in advance !!!!

The only kit that works well that I've heard of is Timesert. Where are you located?

Too bad - if you were anywhere near San Diego you could get the best repair bar none from the guys at blownoutsparkplug.com, they do travel but that starts jacking the price WAY up.

We have a member (Galaxy) who rents a Timesert kit. Shoot him a PM.

Just following up on this thread.

The re-thread tool worked great.

Cost $40 ..... Ford dealer wanted $1200+ for the repair !!!!

I would say that I saved some money !!

So you just chased the thread chamber ? That's what it sounds like to me.

Is this what you used -

http://www.denlorstools.com/home/dt1...tool_14mm.html

What was $40 ? Need more info.

Denlor provides info and links. They also back Time Sert and CalVan.

Links provide thread repair info and whats out there -

Time Sert set -

CalVan set -

http://www.denlorstools.com/home/dt1...ller_cal3.html

oxfordfordman seems to be weak on info IMO. Stick with what has been proven in the past, if you only want to do this once. Time Sert is a proven one time permanent fix. You can make matters much worse attempting a cheaper alternative that just doesn't last.

Contact user Galaxy for rental kits - https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...13-galaxy.html

I would disagree that you saved any money come 6 months from now when you have to repair the plug hole again. There's been more than one guy think they were getting by cheap using a Heli-Coil or some other thread repair method, only to end up spending what you could have spent one time and had a permanent, quality "over the fender" repair.

As you put it, the TimeSert is a true over the fender, no head removal, repair and it is permanent. Never ever seen nor heard of one failing. There was a guy on here talking smack a while back about one failing, but I called him out on it and I haven't seen him post on the forums since then. Zero credibility! You will be 100% satisfied with the TimeSert and bang for the buck, there is not a cheaper option. email me about it!

Whoa ......... I didn't mean to start a fire storm or take business away for anyone.

Just wanted to share what has worked for me with ease and less expensive than the dealer's shop.

This is what I used: http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Res...word&Nty=1&N=0

So far, so good.

If this repair fails in the future, I'll also let y'all know !!

Good deal. I hope it continues to work. Keep us posted.

Helicoil seems to work for awhile but usually fails again. Maybe your solution will be as good as the TimeSert

Okay - why did you answer a question I posed to someone else 5 years ago? Do you need to have a blownout spark plug repaired? If so, go to www.blownoutsparkplug.com, they are local to you. Otherwise, to do it yourself you need the Timesert kit.
