5.4 Power

Ok since I am brand new to this community and not what you would call mechanicly inclined I have a few Questions in which case I would bet that have been asked and answered on here more than once.

#1 I am now the proud owner of a 20' pontoon and although my 06 F150 with the 5.4L has enough power to pull it I want to give it the maximum power that I can without taking a loan out for it. I am thinking about getting a Tuner from Brenspeed next week since the guy on the phone said that for the money to start there instead of K/N system. Ok fine. Oh yeah there is no other mods to this truck except K/N filter and no muffler.

#2 I read about the mod where you take the snorkel off and redo it with PVC that is ok I may try that next weekend but has anyone put a Jet High FlowMass Air FLow Sensor along with said mod and what was the outcome.

#3 Throttle Bodies? Is anyone replacing them or are you keeping the stock? Dealer and guy at Brenspeed said they would not replace. What are your thoughts?

#4 Plugs? Seriously there are thousands and no I may not need them right now but I think a little PM goes a long way. Ok I can go along with the 1 piece champions but good God they are $20 a piece and that hurts a whole lot. What about NGK's and Autolites?

I am really wanting to do the Taurus E Fan also and that may be a next weekend thing also. It truly just makes sense to me.

All I am really wanting is some more power when pulling wood trailer and boat.

What are your thoughts and Thank you for being honest.

And another thought has any1 tried to run the cold air gotts mod to the hole under drivers side headlight? It is a lot bigger hole and looks like it would get way more air than going through the fender. Just curious?

For performance, I'd say the best of all those would be the tuner and E-fans. Also the "Gott's mod" is great. Plugs wont really get you any more power unless they are on there way out. I'm not sure about the throttle body, new MAF, or relocating the the intake hole from the fender, as I don't have any experience or knowledge on that.

Keep the stock plugs, MAF, and throttle body. Gotts mod and a custom tuned SCT or Gryphon will do the most for you.

first put a muffler on it, that lack of backpressure must that poor truck suck, expecially when towing then do the gotts intake mod, a custom tune and if that isn't enough then it's time to regear the truck

If efans are going to be done, I would also install Underdrive pulleys while I am at it.

You only lose velocity when the pipes aren't the same size all the way down or the size is way to big for the engine. The stock muffler is a velocity killer and he's better off without it than with it.

Just do the Gotts Intake Mod and get a good set of custom tunes. All the other stuff can actually hurt your performance.

Efans FTW.

Then DWV/Gotts intake, then custom tunes.
