Help Understanding Ticking Noise 2002 5.4L

I just picked up an old warhorse with a number of problems. The last one on my list is a ticking noise coming from the engine. At first, I thought it was an exhaust leak. I popped the hood and it kind of sounds like it's coming from the right side of the engine.

I had an '06 SCrew with the 5.4L 3V but if I'm not mistaken, this truck is a 5.4L 2V ???

Does anyone know if this engine has lifters or lash adjusters?

Does it have cam phasers like my '06 had?

I just changed the oil and used Mobil 1 5W20 synthetic and a Wix filter. I don't have any oil pressure issues. The truck runs great. I'd just like to figure out what the root cause of the ticking is. I've heard the injectors on these trucks are loud and in fact, the ticking increases as I get on the gas.

A few final questions...

Is there a link to a manual or description to my engine?

Is there any additive or treatment you guys recommend I could use to clean valves, injectors or silence the ticking?

Any link to how to make valve train / lasher adjustments?

Thanks!

It sounds like an exhaust leak to me,these trucks are notorious for them. Also if the price is the same switch over to motorcraft filters and oil. When I bought the truck it had a slight leak around the cylinder head area and when I switched to motorcraft full syn oil it stoped and im at 133,xxx miles. And no it does not have cam phasers, that is only the 3 valves. You can hear lash adjusters at idle but once you get going you usualy cant hear them. I cant hear mine but I dont have a stock exhast anymore.

Not a lifter motor, no cam phasers.

I'd say its a exhaust manifold leak.....like stated before the 5.4's do it all the time.I just had my right side done for $158 at my local shop....I thought that was a pretty good deal myself.I wouldnt have done it for that cheap....
