Collapsed Motor Mount(s)

I noticed that I was getting some vibration that you can feel through the seat while my motor was idling on Park. Press the brake and put it in D and the vibration almost goes away. I pointed this out to a Ford service agent while getting a second key done and he said it could be collapsed motor mounts. While I was getting some work done (alternator, diffy serviced) my mechanic changed one of them as the second was on back order. The easier one to change cost me 150 bucks part and labour and he said the second one will be about 300 as it is harder to change. He said it WAS collapsed ..a bit. It still has some vibration although not as much. IS this normal as per the Ford guys comment?? I did a search here on motor mounts and 0 came up. Thinking if I want to part with another 300 for nothing..or not much!!

Well thats what I thought. With not much..if any change from doing one. AND also key was not one hit on a search here with Motor Mounts tells me there IS no issue with these collapsing. I would believe what I see on this forum 1000 times more than a Ford Service guy at a dealership. Just saved 300 bucks!!

Don't need to get you glasses. You're seeing 20-20. Current auto motor mounts are pretty well engineered and built. Unless you're jumping that truck on the week ends, I doubt you have collapsed MM's on an '06. Most of the motor mounts today are "oil filled" for isolation (isolate the vibrations and sound from the chassis and driver). Often when they do start to deteriorate (after many years) they start to leak oil (may be another type of fluid). I think you should have asked the mechanic for the old motor mount and taken it to another mechanic to evaluate if you don't feel able. Bet they'd tell you there was nothing wrong with it. With the weight on it, it's going to be compressed a little, but need motor mounts on an '06, I doubt it.
