squeeking

I have a loud high pitched squeek when i start my truck in the mornings. Then it just goes away. Does anyone know what it might be, or how to fix it. It sounds like its coming from a tensioner pulley maybe.

year? engine? thanks.

there was a problem with one of the 04s pulleys squealing on startup. use the search for something along those lines if you have that year.

Remove the belt and spin the pulleys by hand, listen for even a faint squeak or bad bearings. My tensioner pulley used to scream at me on start up, think it was like $8 and a few mins to change. Alternator did it once too.

The next time you go to start it remove the belt first. If it doesn't squeak it is most likely something that is turned by the belt. Either way let us know.
