Tracking Down a Bad COP??

Other than renting a code scanner, what's another technique to track down the cyl with a bad COP?? I've got another one bad and was thinking you could disconnect each one while the motor is running until you find the one not carrying it's share of the workload.

On a side note...this is my third bad COP from Global. Bought a set of 8 and had one bad straight out of the box and two go bad in the past 20K miles.

Disregard this post...this technique works quite well. As you go down the line of COPs and disconnect them, the one that's bad will make no difference in how the motor idles...

...and as figured, it was one of the Global COPs with about 20K miles on it as indicated above.

Thats unfortunate. I've heard good stuff about their cop's. You might be able to send them back for replacement due to warranty, not sure though?

Lifetime warranty to me personally is useless on a less than reliable product. Just means you can get them swapped out for free when they fail...I'd rather them not fail.

MSD has the set for $348. Expensive?? Hell yes...but that's what I'll be going with.

Could be yours came out of a bad batch. I've had a set in my van for the last year and a half and haven't had any issues..

I've been hearing of reliability issues with MSD cops too. If you are gonna spend that kind of money get branded Motorcrafts, $48.79 each at Rock Auto.

Great point about the MC's! I actually kept all my known good ones when I bought and installed the Globals. Ever since then, I have slowly been replacing the bad Globals with my original MC's...that says something!!

You must have a bad batch - from what I understand the Globals are from the same OEM Motorcraft uses. Those things are all made in China now.
