Code tester?
Code tester?
What tester is good for a noob to check the codes and reset them if you can? My friend an I would like to go in on one. I have a 2001 4.6l Scrw, he has a 2005 5.4l Scrw. (Edit) BTW - once you have codes, How do you find out what they mean?

Google is good for researching codes. Just remember that the "0" after the "P" is a zero, not a letter O.

I'm not sure what would be better for a noob and then I think, maybe once I start, I'll want more info. I kinda liked the upgradeable, website code and other features. Are they really neccesary or is the basic one good for 95% of the problems?
Course a free diagnostic at Autozone isn't bad either unless your stuck someplace.
Do these allow you to test further once the initial problems found or is that a problem specific issue?
(Edit) One more thing - Can you have error codes that don't turn on the check engine light?
