#7 cop stripped?
#7 cop stripped?
After all this messing with my plugs/cops, i go to tighten the bolt back onto the #7 cop and it seems as its stripped or something....It wont even bottom out on the cop and keep spinning....It just stops turning in about id say a 1/16th inch or so, so the cop still moves up and down a little and isnt tight....When i took it off it didnt seem stripped....Anyone know what else could be wrong? Its kind of a pain to see whats going on since its the #7...Thanks.
Yea,back and fourth but it moves up and down....The bolt doesnt seem to want to bottom out on the cop...It just keeps spinning around about 1/16th inch or less from the coil....I cant really see whats going on though...
If you can remove the bolt with a little prying action, you might be able to make and install a 1/16" or less spacer, if your lucky. Yea you can't get it to tight, it's as jethat posted. Too tight and that ear will bust right off the coil, - it doesn't take much.
They ride on the bushing to avoid stress cracking or fracturing to the coil itself, which invites moisture.
Try stripping some copper wire and wrap a few strands around the bolt. A zip tie could also be used as a temp fix till you get set up to properly fix the threads.

I still dont get why the bolt wont go all the way in and bottom out on the coil even if it is stripped....Im starting to think the very small possibility that something could be in the bolt hole....

Yea, that's what barrey posted.
If the bolts good , you might be able to wire wheel it clean (If dirty or loaded up with aluminum lol). Chase the threads in the bolt chamber. The thread chamber is most likley messed up. Not sure what else you can do that hasn't been mentioned. You can't really go with a larger chamber - (drill/tap) unless you re-bushing the coil. Purchasing a little thread repair kit for that size should be cheap. Autozone did have those, but that's a special bolt/thread. The only bolt with the same thread/pitch on the engine is the TPS sensor bolt, with a PITA Phillips head lol. Auto supplies usually carry a few metric bolts, not sure if they have that one tho.
Damn, I talk to much, -good luck
