A non-intercooled blower can’t make that much but choosing to buy a non intercooled blower is like shooting a toe off. The $$/hp ratio of the intercooler is fantastic.

4.6L motors make 400-450rwhp with just about every intercooled blower on the market except the Magnacharger. And the KB, Whipple, Saleen, Intercooled Vortech and the Procharger can all make 550rwhp with just a pulley change but would blow the rods out in short order.

A 5.4L can’t make that why?

i doubt 5.4's are making up to 475 to the wheels with just adding a blower.

i doubt even more that 4.6's are making up to 450 rwhp with just adding a blower. thats doubling the factory output (an extra 225-250!). i call BS!!! find some dynographs to prove what your saying. i can see them making 150 hp more or so but not that much.

here's my "you dont know what your saying" link below.your probably thinking flywheel hp. read all 12 pages...

No you sure as heck won't get there with a blower alone. Whipple only advertises 394rwhp on the 5.4 3v kit. I'd say there close. My first dyno pull ever was 400rwhp. Then came injectors and the custom tune.

you can get over 475 to the rear wheels EASY. the problem is the factory shortblock wont take it safely. The whipple can be pullied up to 25psi and probably put down near 700. im pretty sure FatherFord made a few 500hp runs on his Vortech setup at 12psi, and that IS at the rear wheels.

Yes but the point being made was you can't just bolt on a blower and make 475rwhp. You have to build the motor and fuel system up to support it.

Is your buddy's a 3V 5.4?
That sounds about right. With a LOT of work!

I'm running 594rwhp with a KB at 16 psi on a 2V 5.4

yeah its a 5.4 3v. he ripped pretty much the entire engine apart.

he replaced the rods, pistons, valves, retainers, rings, bearings, arp head studs, ported heads, etc. one thing i didnt agree with but he did stick with the stock crank. so far its held up. is that normal?

cool. i was unsure. but he is also planning on upping the boost (his goal is 650rwhp) and has had it boosted for around 20,000 miles. how long can they go like this?
