i have heard of this problem and i just wanted to know how likely it is to happen i have a 2001 f150 and it runs awsome 127000 miles no problems i talked to my cousin whos a master mechanic for ford and he said it happens a ok amout but not all the time and he said as long as theres nothing rong with it than theres nothing to worry about. i just wanted to check with yall

 

its not as common as the internet makes it seem. trucks that have no plug problems vastly outnumber the ones that do.

 

~330,000 miles on my 2001 5.4 and never had a problem....Gotta make sure you torque them down to 28ft lb (i believe) I never did, just put some crank on em...

260,000 miles + here, 0 launch issues. Right, you'll always hear more about the bad vs the good as far as that goes.

 

As stated, blow outs are the minority...problem with forums is this is where most people come to complain or search for help with problems. The majority don't jump on here to say how normal things are.

Normal TLC will work wonders for your plugs. Don't worry about the blow out until it happens. Preventative maintenance (i.e. installing 8 new sleeves just incase) is a waste of time and money. I talk customers out of doing that all the time. Enjoy!
