Was there any warranty on the vehicle?

30 day/ 3000 mile limited powertrain warranty. They said that the spark plug issue isn't a warranty item as it is routine maintanence. My only arguement with them was with what they told me. They told me Ford reccomends tuning these motors up at 60K miles due to this reason. They took the truck in on trade with 69,987 miles... and didn't tune it up, or even check the plugs for that matter. So, that was my beef all along. If it's a known problem then why sell the truck with this issue without at least inspecting it? And the tire ordeal really gets me mad. They said every vehicle they sell undergoes a "rigorous" 125 point inspection, including ignition system and tires, along with belts, hoses, brakes, and the norm... well, they would've noticed that ALL 4 TIRES HAD PLUGS IN THEM! So, shame on me for not personally checking every inch of all the tires, but never thought that would be an issue with a dealership. Oh well, live and learn, I guess. I DID however purchase a Ford extended powertrain warranty with the truck. So, I KINDA feel confident that any other repairs might be covered. The truck is warranted til Jan. 2015 and/or 220K miles on the powertrain. Supposed to be good at any dealership. We'll see......

Try explaining to the service manager that it is impossible for a spark plug to carbon up to the point that it will break when removing it in 3000 miles. So admitting that, either the dealer did not inspect he plugs or his mechanic is incompetent. Whichever it is they owe you for the spark plug change.

I argued that point with them and they told me that it's a known issue with these 3 valve motors and Ford will do NOTHING to remedy the problem. I've talked to Ford Customer Service and they told me, of course, that this is NOT a known issue, however, unfortunately they cannot compensate me for routine maintenance. The guy did, however, tell me that Ford DOES like the plugs to be changed at 60K miles, not the standard 100K that is specified in the owner's manual. I told them that they should honor their designe flaw and replace broken plugs free of charge and the guy chuckled and said Ford would go out of business if they did that for everyone. I told him maybe they deserve to if they don't want to back their product. I then got hung up on. So, I'm done dealing with them and that dealership, I am now PRAYING nothing goes wrong to/from Tennessee.

This is a VERY unfortunate situation, you have what sounds to be a great truck (as others have mentioned), but you have a VERY crooked dealer that is taking advantage of you........ hope this works out for you at another dealership. As you pointed out, the plugs, cat and tires should have been replaced prior to selling to you when they got the trade, thats why people buy "pre inspected" vehicles from dealerships ---- peace of mind, not so with this dealership - shame on them. Hope you find a better dealer and they treat you properly.

After some time to cool off I can honestly say that I hope the truck is done with repairs for awhile as I would like to enjoy it for what it is... a nice, big roomy crew cab that can tow decent weight, a bed big enough to haul my bike, something pretty to look at... I've exhausted myself with anger on this issue. I guess I'm done bitching about it now and am just happy to have a normal running truck for the past 3 days. I'm concentrating on my trip to TN and already have the bike loaded up. Anyone in this forum in TN? I'll be riding Deal's Gap/The Dragon's Tail Sunday-Wednesday, weather permitting.

Have fun at the Gap! Many of us up here in the cold "north" have made the trip to the "Mecca" of bike roads, I'm jealous! I do most of my riding on the track (Amateur 600), but do enjoy the tight twisties whenever I get a chance...

yeah, I saw that you have a zx-6r. I wouldn't mind getting a smaller, more agile bike. I ride a K9 Busa right now, but am seriously considering a zx-6r or a Gixxer600 for a little more crazy riding. I ride mostly top speed runs, but hit some mild twisties here and there. When I get a 600 I will surely have many track days!! Can't wait. We have a nice track in Lexington, Ohio called Mid-Ohio.

Dealerships can be souless SOB's whos single job is to separate you from your money. There are some good ones out there but they are increasingly hard to find.

I have come to realize that customer service does not exist in at least 3/4's (based on my dealings) of the businesses operating today. It amazes me how they keep the doors open. To me if you treat a customer well he will come back, if you screw him or her over you will never see them again and they will tell everyone they know about the experience they had. These companies just don't seem to care anymore. Most can't even be bothered to call you back if you leave a message. I don't feel like I should have to chase you to give you my hard earned money.
