96 5.4 Work In Place Of 97 4.6

I have a 97 f150 with a knocking 4.6 and want to go with the 5.4. I found a 96 5.4 for cheap and with low miles will it work?

Ford didn't have the 5.4L's in 96. In 96, it was the 5.8L. In 97, Ford discontinued the 5.8L's and went the 5.4L.

Ok is it possible that it was a late 96/early 97. Either way if its a 97 5.4 it will work then correct.

There's NO way it's a 96. If it's indeed a 5.4L, it will work. If you read the notes you were linked to in your other thread, you would know this. We're not posting for our health, we post to help.
