engine noise

Hi I just bought a 2004 f150 with a 5.4 triton v8 from a toyota dealer .the engine has a ticking sound comming from it at idle, the dealer said thats the normal sound this engine makes and that its the fuel injecters and not to worry about it, is this correct ? thanks to any answers

Might wanna review Episode 22 here:

The 5.4 are subject to cam phaser issues and they make noise which is hard to describe on the internet. These same engines are subject to broken 2 piece spark plugs so if the engine has not had them changed- best of luck. Might wanna do a search here on broken spark plugs and cam phasers......and ya might wanna fix a sandwich and a drink.

The injectors do make a ticking sound that is pretty loud. The cam phaser noise is more of a knocking sound or so they say. Sounds like your dealer is telling your the truth.
