I have a 99 f150 2wd 5.4 and the engine started knocking and misfiring. I found an 03 5.4 in a wrecked truck and I was wondering if anyone knows if the 03 engine will work in my 99. Thanks

 

I've done that swap. I had to swap on the remote oil filter stuff the 03 oil filter mounts directly. The pulleys on the 03 are smaller so I swapped all pulleys. The intake on the 03 is plastic so I kept the metal one. You have to r&r it any way. The throttle body is the same in fact i think you could use the plastic intake if you wanted.

 

just keep your PCM and you will be just fine
