What 5.0 is in my truck?

I am buying a 94 f150 where the dealer is droping in a old/ yet low mile 5.0
I am trying to look into the motor before I buy it, And was hoping maybe someone could tell me what 5.0 is most likely be going in, or maybe its a stupid question lol

First of all, I think it's odd that a dealer is dropping an engine into anything they're selling to the retail market. They just wouldn't mess with it, and would be unusual to have a used 5.0L engine just lying around.

The 5.0 is basically the same cast iron pushrod block 302cid from many years back, with head and intake changes for when EFI took over everything in the mid-'90s. Mustang 5.0 engines changed in '96 to the 4.6L OHC engine and the 5.4L took over the 5.8L pushrod engine. Crown Vics and Lincolns got the 4.6 and 5.4 engines before the Mustang did, if I recall correctly.

If the truck in question came with a 5.0L engine originally, then they're just replacing it. It could have come out of any number of Ford products, and any numbers on the block itself won't give you any answers. If the dealer won't tell you exactly what it came out of, I'd be a little wary. But as long as you're also getting a decent warranty on it there should be no problem.

Its my sisters father who owns the dealership. He owns a dealership in MD and bought the truck with a blown motor at an auction. He dropped in another 5.0 but I am not sure to much about it yet. I live in DE and the truck a 94 F150 single cab long bed is to tall to register it in MD. So I am getting a good deal... I think anyway, 4k with 120k on the tranny.
Another question, what else should I look out for, would it the 4OED Tranny in a 94?

If it had a 302 from factory, wouldn't it be more likely to have a 4r70W?
