Plug blew out
Plug blew out
My #7 plug came out last night. As i started it up to leave. I was pizzed but then was grateful it happened in my driveway and not on the other side of Los Angeles.
I checked out the other posts last night and inquired about renting a repair kit. But after messing with it today, just pulling th broken COP and getting the plug out, i don't think i want to tackle the job. It's in a bad spot
I'm going to contact the Blownoutsparkplug guys and see what they offer.
Well a guy Dave just contacted me. They have two locations in Calif. I'm in the middle. They will remove all the plugs, inspect all of the threads. and fix up to two. He says they cut the carbon off the other seats so they wont back out again. Replace the plugs with nickle plated plugs and torque them to 28lbs. $650 if i go to him and $800 if he comes to me.
Another option is $1800 and they do them all, but he says i don't need that.
Sounds like the best option for me.
Has anybody used thse guys before?
I let everyone know how it turns out.

are the threads ok, see what you can do its not as hard as it looks just take your time and go slow, that's what i did and my COP swap worked fine, the plugs do suck but take a closer look it might be easier then you think, and that could save you $800, cause that seems abit high to me.
You are fortunate to be in SoCal - Dave and his brother have this repair down to a science. I'd pay his price before even thinking about another way if you are planning on keeping the truck for a while. The only other method I'd even consider without pulling the head is Timesert.
gettin fixed tomorrow
Well Dave's coming tomorrow to fix them for me. I had un-done the one side of the fuel rail already, but he asked me to reinstall it. he says they do it all with out removing the fuel rails. He says its a liability thing, leak wise. He says they do it all with the rail in place, takes about two hours. I'll see if he'll let me take a few pics and post them.
The only bad thing about this... other than the Money that is. Is that i have to clean up the garage now. Cause guys don't like other guys to see their messy garages.
I know it seems like alot of money but for me its a good value.
