5.4Oil Cunsumption?
5.4Oil Cunsumption?
Just did an oil change on the farm truck, (130,000) and noticed before I changed it that it was low about half a quart? Anything to really worry about? I change every 3,000 religiously, and maintain the truck very well.
What year is the truck? Those miles, that is nothing to be concerned about. Ford even maintains that up to a quart every 1000 miles is normal, I would not want one using that much.

Yikes, a quart every 1000 miles is a lot! No sense in changing it at that rate since it's being perpetually renewed! LOL

If you think that you are having an excessive loss in your oil;check out the fittings to the oil cooler from the filter.
There have been many TSB's concerning the connections at those two units. I had mine removed, and I replaced the unit with something similar from JC Whitney. The hoses tend to leak around the crimp connectors. Another place that there could be an leak is from the head covers at the back over the starter.
