COPs replacement

Hi guys,
I have spent the past week searching & reading up on what the issues with my truck are and feel I have a pretty good handle on things.

I have a 2001 screw 4.6L 4x4 with over 320,000 km on her. She ran like a champ, without any leaks or issues until I got a ton of snow up on, and packed all around the engine. Now I have a terrible miss in one or more cylinders accompanied by the good old flashing cel to steading cel back to flashing cel cycle.

I realize that I am in need of new COPs (at the least) and wonder what else I might need. Do the new Cops come with boots or do I need to order new boots as well? I am replacing all the spark plugs with motorcraft while I am at it.

I also know that my O2 sensors need replaced as one of the rear O2 bungs broke off the pipe and then busted up the O2 sensor that was in it. I figure it is time to replace them all and so they are on the way.

I am also ordering a odb2 scanner to check what other codes there are before I replace the cops. (so I can know which cops are still good) (the closest AutoZone is 50 miles away)

Any other thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks
Pax

Found my own answer with a bit more digging. The new cops come do come with boots. Any other thoughts before I tackle this?

Thanks for all the info here.

Best bet is to order 8 new COP's from ebay; either Global Auto or Uneeksupply. Do a search for them and you'll find them (or 'dg508' as I THINK those are the correct COP's for your model year). A set of 8 will run you around $80 and for the money, it's best to replace them all as once one goes, there's usually more ready to go.

A scanner is a great tool and will tell you what else (if anything) is wrong. If it spits out codes, search for them on here and you'll find all the information you need on what to do.

Thanks AZ. That is exactly what I have done. Purchased a set of cops from Global Auto and am now waiting for them to arrive. I have the Equus 3140 coming. I have a couple of pre 96 fords that are on the obd 1 list of this scanner. So I went that route. I am sure it will work great for all my obd2 vehicles including my F150. I can hardly wait. I love new tools!!

Thanks for you thoughts.
