Cheap Power Adders?

I'm sixteen and just bought an '04 Supercrew XLT 5.4L. I'm wondering what order i should go in for performance. The only problem is that im pretty much broke now so im gonna have to be on the cost effective side. I've already done the DWV(Gotts) mod. What can i get for the most power for my money?

There really isnt anything "cheap" Headers e-fans programmer. All that stuff is money.. The best thing you can do for the truck is just take good care of it so it lasts you awhile and when you go to sell it you can get something out of it.

IMO you can throw $2000 into a programmer,CAI,e-fans,headers and you probably still wont be happy. Been there done that...their just isnt any real power untill you add boost.

I know nothings really cheap. I just meant that a borla exhaust, an edge programmer, and an Air Force CAI were out of the question. I meant that since ill only be able to buy one thing at a time in which order should i go in, eg. exhaust, headers, programmer, ignition system. Also if certain air filters, spark plugs, fans ect. work better than others for their price.

I can understand that if you're going for a beast of a truck running low 14's or high 13's but other than that, for me, adding boost would expensive, time consuming project having to deal with the tuning and tweaking and in the end more power than i need. I'm just looking for respectable power that can smoke ignorant rich kids in hummers and tundras by scrapping up a few hundred dollars at a time. I plan on sticking boost free on this truck, maybe my next one.

intake and tuning should really be done at the same time. you need custom tunes to run a cold air intake especially on an 04. You will want to talk to a company like power hungry performance or troyer to set you up with a good intake/program. lots of info on this site if you search for it, at least a couple hundred threads on it. after that a catback exhaust would be a good idea. Headers arent really necessary and will add more sound then power...they are more needed on a supercharged vehicle where you can really take advantage of them. E-fans IMO are not worth it and if not done right can be more of a headache then anything with controller failures ect..

im sorry to break it to you...but you will never beat a tundra without a supercharger. Even a stock one will walk all over you at full bolt on status.

It's cool dude.
Like I said in the other post, I've been up for like 18 hours; so I was just figuring that I was seeing double...

...on that note I'm going to bed.

See you guys tomorrow..

Note: I wonder if a mod could combine the two threads, so that all your answers are in one place. I dunno, can you guys do that kinda stuff?

You're 16 with a used vehicle. Don't waste any of your money upgrading this one, instead, save your cash for when you're done with school. Then you'll have a bunch of money for a new truck, or if you still wanted to, you could still hook up the one you have. Trust me, in another 6 years, the truck you have currently won't look at attractive as it does now when it's "new" to you.
