injector/coil/plugs? problem

Alright, so first off i havnt taken the truck anywhere to read the code yet. but on my way from work i had cruise set it was fine, slowed down for town, went to get back up to speed and truck started to stumble/chug. i called one of my buddies and his 06 had the same problem and a friend of his had the same problem. theres was the injector problem and i guess had to have a couple plugs replaced to. ive been readin on here looking for info and im thinking i have the same issue. My friend said it was like 400 for his to get done. My check engine light did come on, but i havnt had a chance to take it anywhere to read the codes. just assuming here..but if it is either the injectors or the coils. will injectors from a 07-08 fit in my 04 5.4? Same question for the coils also, if they will fit my 04 from a 07-08. I have found each of these on ebay and im curious as to if they will fit. i read the whole article about the 05's gettin the longer recall for the injectors, but how come the 04's dont fall into this as well?

Auto zone has a scanner for your model. You can call to confirm. Then you can drive their.

I hope you catch this before you go: -

Take paper and pen/pencil with you. Write down all codes, you may have more than one, this is important!!

Not just I , but many on this site can guide you once DTC codes are posted.

After the Auto Zone employee plugs the scanner into the port of your vehicle, be right there to write them down. Tell him/her you want to look at the scanner as well. First the scanner will post # of DTC's (1,2 or 3) then give you them. You will most likley have PO300 series DTC's.

DTC's/(Diagnostic Trouble Codes).

well little update..i dont know what even made me do it last night. but had the hood popped and just randomly unscrewed the oil fill lid. Not what i wanted to see, oil was white, milkshake looking up all around the lid and the filler neck. Going out this morning to crack drain plug and see if coolant runs out. This is definatly not what i wanted, anyone ever had head gasket problems on the 04+ 3V 5.4's?

That's normal, don't worry about it. You can wipe it out if you want. It's a bi-product of cold climate/ short trips, long idle times, short idle times, then shut down. - It's normal.

So, yea - go get those DTC's pulled and let us know.

I'm not sure, but you might get a quick answer in the tuner forum, if you use that forums search bar (far right). Once there, look to the far right "Search This Forum Only"

Could just purchase one yourself, I think Harbor Freight had them for $38. That's the cheapest I've seen.

BTW - You need a CAN compliant scanner I believe. For the 04+ Models.

Beginning in 2003 Ford among other manufacturers began using a new computer protocol called Controller Area Network (CAN) on some OBD2 vehicles.

Most cheap Scanners are now Can Compliant anyway, Actrons are, -to name one.

I know you'll have to put his back to stock level 0. Then put it on yours. You don't need to load a tune to use the diagnostics on the edge.
It should show the stored codes with the key on engine off.

Wouldn't it just been easier to goto Autozone and have them read the codes for you, if it's more than one, they'll print off what youll need...I would have done that then wait on a friend to bring his scanner...Just saying, mine is doing the exact same thing your's is doing...I'm buying all new plugs and coils, and if it continues, then its the injectors....
