I guess I never updated this.

I did see the final bill on this from the dealership. Almost exactly $7,000.00. The insurance company reneged. The girls father came to the rescue.

I was surprised she didn't get a break on the bill. She works at Ford Dearborn and her father retired from there. Nope, no special treatment.

Brew, For those who had any doubt, you've just posted a good argument for NOT buying an AFTERMARKET warrantee! I'm not into extended warranties anyway (only ever bought 2, they were FACTORY and I never collected a dime on 'em because I never had ANY problem.) I prefer it that way.

Yea, I don't have all the details that went down between her , the dealership and insurance company. The insurance company had given her the impression that they were going to cover most the cost. She was relieved momentarily. She got a major run around from them.

Long story short, it got fixed, she drove it for awhile, a little over a yaer I think. (?) Didn't have another problem with it, then traded it in this past summer for a new Taurus. Nice car.

Extended warranty is rarely worth it. They search for ANY possible reason to deny. There are things they should be able to deny for like not changing the oil but they'll come up with any possible reason.. If properly maintained and all I dont think there needed anyway..

Did Ford/ Warranty company people know she was going to get a lawyer before they decided to fix it? In other words did she scare the crap out of them?

Don't start crapping in every thread I post in. I can't see your post anyway. Looks like this -

So, I suggest you give it up and move on.
