would it be beneficial at all swapping non pi cams for the pi cams? in a 4.6

 

It would gain 10-15 hp.

i noticed on there it had parts to get along with the cams. my question is i was told to watch the durtions and how long there open for. a friend of mine got a set of cams for his 5.0 mustang and did the directions right timed it perfect and because the valve stayed open so long it smacked the piston. How do you know how much you can have??

Also how would you know if it has that nice cam/lopy sound?

 

HI!... We've always done the "PLAYDOH" test. You put a layer of kids playdoh or you can use a soft modeling clay on top of the piston. Then install the cylinder head without the head gasket. Turn the engine over by hand a few times and then take the head back off. 1st see if the clay on the piston has any divot in it from the valve. If it doesn't then your good to go. If it does then get a caliper and measure the thickness, then add in the thickness of the head gasket you'll be using and do the math.

As for the lopy sound at idle. You won't get too much of a lopy sound with the modulars. I had 0.600 lift custom ground cams in my built 5.4 and it was barely noticeable at idle. Go for performance, not the sound.

 

i know sometimes the better a cam the more lopy sound but i dont think these motors will.

ha i was going to do a 460 build and found a drag cam that said "Intoliablie idle!" haha

 

thats one of the best mods for non pi motors, especially if you advance them 4 degrees.
