I actually changed the plugs today in the old ladies 06 Explorer, not a bad deal. It's got 135k km's which is what, 85k miles? and they look a little worse (electrode part) than the op's. Loosened them up a bit, sprayed areo-kroil down the holes, just a bit, and took em out. For those looking to do this, you need a 9/16 plug socket which is hard to find. A dab of anti-seize on the threads, dielectric grease in the c.o.p boot and we have a brand new whip again. Just adding a little sucess hijack of my own to buddy's thread here, don't fear the plug change. Used Motorcraft plugs as well, pricey buggers aren't they!!!

Photo of Plugs

I finally took a photo of the plugs that I removed a few weeks ago from my '07 5.4 3v with 55k miles on it at the time. You can see how clean they are probably because of the fuel additive i ran in it the weekend before I removed the plugs. But I still had some difficulty removing them because they didnt have any lubrication on them.
