Question Possible bad EGR Valve

I have a 97 f150 4.6 xlt. Just recently I started having an issue when i accelerate from a stop i pretty much have to gun it to keep it from dying out on me. If i hesitate and don't push the gas past the first about 1/4 in the truck hesitates and lurches horribly. Then just yesterday it started to lurch extremly bad at highway cruising speeds and on light loads like accelerating up a small hill. I replaced the plugs, gas filter, cleaned the air flow sensor nothing is working. I think from what I have read it is probably the EGR stuck open but would appreciate any input. Thank you.

Sounds more like your IAC or TPS sensor. Is your CEL (check engine light) on? Need to get the DTS codes read. Stores like Autozone or Checker/O'Reilly's will do it for free.

Alright I had to buy the OBD reader because due to some legality Orielys and Autozone say they can no longer shoot codes. I pulled a P0102 and P0113 which was low reading on mas/air circuit and high reading on mas/air ciruit. After reading the chilton it the symptoms of a bad TPS sound about right but I wanna see if this sounds more like the mass air sensor

Clean the MAF sensor. Thats were I'd start. Easy cheap.. Right next to the air filter you take it apart. You have to buy a safety torx to get it apart and pick up some MAF cleaner..

Either way, clean your MAF sensor but you're probably going to have to replace the TPS. It's about $60 or $65 bucks for a Motorcraft. I wouldn't buy a non-Motorcraft as many have had bad luck from them.
