My dumb mistake..

Big one and really stupid..
As some of you remember I had the head gasket oil leak. So I thought allot about what to do to fix it and came to the decision I was going to sell the thing and get me a better truck. Found one and it was a beauty made the deal with the guy and all it was a set deal. Talked to a guy i know who was very interested in buying my truck. I thought about it and decided I was going to get some oil stop leak..... Next morning I head over to Orielly's and grab the stuff off the shelf go up to the counter and I ask the parts guy if they have any OIL stop leak that works better then that and he says yeah we have this stuff here and hands it to me.. I GLANCE at the bottle it says in big letters headgasket repair. I think thats the stuff. So I buy it. Go out and dump the crap in my engine. As I dump the last little bit in the engine I start reading the bottle. Its Cooling system stop leak. I go back in buy all the stuff to change the oil blah blah. It was to late couldnt get that crap outa there

So I Called off the deal on the beautiful truck and started calling around for an engine found a 2003 with 41k on it. Installed it this last weekend and it runs a little better then the old one did..
Major screw up. Top 5 in my life.. Not the dumbest thing I've ever done but very close.

Sorry to hear it.
The lesson may be to READ what the bottle says on it and disregard what the droid at the parts store tells you.

Man , that looks like it works better than metal shavings. Metal shavings would compromise an engine pretty quick, that's what they used to poison my dads heavy equipment back in the day.

I bet that stuff wouldn't of came out of there even if it was running when you changed it.

What did it do jethat, just lock up ? Pistons in one piece ? When mine blew, 1/3 of the piston ended up in the lower intake.

Fail safe lol. I got a 1/2 mile from service without so much as a drop of oil, hell the drain plug was still back at the dealer. Big Bang, lights bells and whistles went off, I drove it back to the dealer, yep still running on seven, smoking like hell, engine eating itself up inside. I didn't care at that point.

That trucks never left me stranded.
