I had a check engine light and the code said (insufficient flow closed cooling loop) -----------------------------The mechanic said it could be possible that the thermostat malfunctioned, I was going down a long steep mountain when it came on. I did not notice the temp ga. He also said it probably will not come on again. Anything else this could be. Antifreeze level fine. Thanks. 2000 f-150 5.4

 

could be the thermostat, have you ever changed it?

 

what was the actual code? i wouldnt worry about it just yet, wait and see if it comes back.

 

only code im familiar with that says insufficient flow is EGR code

 

The mechanic read it and said it was insufficient cooling flow fuel loop he did not tell me the code number. He cleared it and so far I have driven 50 mi and it has not come back on. I did buy a new thermostat but have not installed it yet

 

never ignore a code no matter what you were doing at the time or wether it stays off. first thing i learned when i was lik 7. it means big big problems in the future.

 

We need the exact code. If it comes on again, get the exact code.
