Fuel vs electrical problems

Hi, I'm new to the site and I could use a little help

I have a 93 F150 Supercab 4X4 with a 5.0 liter engine. Today when I drove home from work, the engine was cutting out and had no power. When I was driving it seems like a fuel problem.

When I first had the problem I notice that the alternate gauge was not working. I can rev the engine in park, and it does just fine. It just doesn't want to go while it is being driven

I checked the battery and it appears that the alternator was charging the battery. Another thing I notice that the fuel tank selector switch does not appear to be working. The rest of the electrical system works fine. I checked the fuses and they appear to be fine.

Are these problems related? Does anyone have suggestions?

Thanks

I have a 1990 F-250 with the 5.8. Awhile back I had issues like you said with the motor cutting out. Ended up being carbon build up in the throttle body and the vaccuum hoses were junk. Ford had a recall years ago on that fuel switch between tanks. The unit would fail and when you went to switch tanks the fuel would spew out. Hope this helps!
